The workshop about the use of incense is a perfect example of the kind of practical knowledge that we don’t always get during our seminary training or in the parish setting. Dr. Jim Farwell provided an important framework around the theology and history of incense, followed by a hands-on training, from the preparation of coals in the sacristy to the handling of the thurible during the liturgy.
